[Letter written to Chuck Smith Sr. a week before taking the pamphlet to his son Chuck Jr.'s church]

Capo Beach Calvary Chapel is not a Real Calvary Chapel

Dear Pastor Chuck:

I just wanted to inform you of what is about to transpire this week-end at your son, Chuck Jr.'s church. A group of concerned Calvary Chapel people are going to be handing out this tract that I wrote to appeal to Chuck Jr.'s church to take action against what is occurring there.

We have addressed this sort of problem with Chuck Jr. before back in 2000 when he was associating with Sanctuary's leader Barry Taylor. Chuck agreed to take down the link to him because Barry's site linked to the Metropolitan Community Church, a homosexual church that claims that the apostle John was Jesus' homosexual lover. However, at last week's service at CC-CB, Chuck Jr. again dropped Barry Taylor's name as one who has influenced him.

Last Sunday and again this Sunday, Chuck Jr. is having another heretical friend take his pulpit. This guy is even more dangerous in my opinion as he is a full-blown new age guru.

If I keep silent, woe is me. I can NOT look the other way as my fellow sheep get slaughtered and their faith gets shipwrecked.

I know he's your son, but if you want to preserve Calvary Chapel, I implore you to ask your son to either turn his church over to a man who has the Calvary Chapel vision God gave you, or remove his affiliation. Otherwise - a lot of leaven will corrupt the entire movement. I strongly believe that with the Lord it's more important to end well than to begin well and become corrupted.

The following is just a rough draft. I'll be putting it into a tract format and adding more quotes and things.

I love you as a father, Pastor Chuck. Calvary Chapel is where the Lord brought me when he called me 24 years ago. I am not the most popular female in the CC family, but I don't do this to win any admirers.

Love to you and yours,

Jackie Alnor

[NO RESPONSE]

A prototype of a pamphlet I wrote & handed out to people coming and going to services at Calvary Chapel Capo Beach on the last Sunday in September 2005 is linked below.

In the pamphlet, I suggested Capo-Beach Calvary be unaffiliated since they do not represent Calvary positions. The pastor is Chuck Smith Jr. and his friends envision a church that has no doctrines, no systematic theology, and no presentation of the gospel to the lost. In fact, if I could sum up that Sunday's speaker's sermon, in his own words it was "don't be concerned about people getting a seat in heaven."

As we were handing these papers out at the entrance to the parking lot (we stayed on the public sidewalk to keep it all legal) one of Jr.'s ushers approached me and told me that Calvary Capo Beach was not affiliated with Calvary Chapel. I responded, "then why are they linked on Calvary's affiliated church link's web page?" He admitted that was true but just shrugged his shoulders.

I told him that it was deceptive to use the name Calvary Chapel -- that was a bait and switch game. He said they can call themselves anything they want to.

I found out early that I was entering into the trenches when a demonized man attacked us (my sister Janet accompanied me) while we were at a gas station on the way there. Then while we were handing out the pamphlets, a church lady squared off with me like she wanted to fight and screamed in my face. I just smiled and kept handing pamphlets out and then she shoved me a couple of times. I told her to keep her hands off me and she just laughed in my face. Then I told her that her hostility was winning me treasure in heaven and that I expected persecution. At that point the usher from earlier told her to come back and not to talk to me. I thanked him for calling her off.

I could sense the darkness around that place. As we stood at the driveway we sang songs of praise to the Lord in order to have His peace and He gave it. We took the abuse with a smile and finished our assignment

Please pray for the future of Calvary Chapel, a movement that I believe the Lord Jesus Christ orchestrated. It pains me to think that His Spirit might be leaving it.
